New Castle, Delaware, is located approximately 7 miles South of Wilmington, Delaware and 2 miles from the Delaware Memorial Bridge.

From I-95 (North or South):
Take Exit 5A, Delaware Route 141 South, toward New Castle; continue past the Routes 13 & 40 overpass. At the intersection of Routes 9 & 273, turn left onto Route 9 North. Go 1/2 mile to the next traffic light and bear right onto Delaware Street into New Castle. Proceed to Second Street and turn left; proceed to the next stop sign at Harmony Street, turn left; u-turn left onto Market Street (cobblestone street); The Arsenal is centrally located on the Green, at 30 Market Street. The Arsenal houses the Society offices, Museum Store and Visitor Center, including ticketing for tours of the Amstel and Dutch houses. The Amstel House is at the corner of Delaware and Fourth Streets (2 East Fourth Street). The Dutch House is on Third Street (32 East Third Street), facing the Green. Parking is also available on the surrounding streets.

From Route 13 (North or South):

From New Jersey (I-295 and the New Jersey Turnpike):
Take the Delaware Memorial Bridge into Delaware. At the first exit after the toll, take Route 9 South to New Castle. Follow Route 9 for about 2 miles. At the first STOP Sign, go straight ahead into New Castle on Sixth Street (do not curve right when Route 9 curves). Turn left onto Delaware Street at the first traffic light. Proceed to Second Street and turn left; proceed to the next stop sign at Harmony Street, turn left; u-turn left onto Market Street (cobblestone street); The Arsenal is centrally located on the Green, at 30 Market Street. The Arsenal houses the Society offices, Museum Store and Visitor Center, including ticketing for tours of the Amstel and Dutch houses. Parking:
Free on-street parking is available throughout Historic New Castle. The most central parking area is located in the town square on Delaware Street, between Second and Third Streets. Parking is also available on just off Delaware Street, along side streets. Please note that some parking spaces are time limited as noted on nearby signs.

Tour Bus Drop Off:
Buses may unload and load at a central location on Second Street. Follow directions above to Delaware Street, and turn left at Second Street. The drop off location is halfway up the block and is well marked. After unloading passengers, buses may then park at a nearby lot. To reach the bus parking lot, continue up Second Street, 1 1/2 blocks, to Chestnut Street. Turn left on Chestnut Street. The parking lot is on the right, just after the first stop sign (near the recycling center). To return to the bus loading zone for picking up passengers, exit the parking lot by turning right on Chestnut Street. Turn left at the next stop sign onto Sixth Street. Follow Sixth Street back to Delaware Street. Turn left on Delaware Street then left on Second Street to pick-up location.

Public Transportation:
Historic New Castle is easily reached by public transportation. The DART First State Route serving the historic area is Route 15. The nearest bus stop to the historic area is located at the corner of Delaware and Sixth Streets. Schedules are available at www.dartfirststate.com.
